Following our sunset ceremony over the Atlantic, we will also hold a sunrise service over the Pacific in Taiwan for family members who are unable to travel such great distances. We would be honored to welcome you and share the beauty of this incredible country with you.
VISITING TAIWAN
Taiwan is a fantastic place to visit because it packs an incredible amount of variety into one small island. You can explore ultra-modern cities like Taipei, hike lush mountains and dramatic gorges, relax on beautiful beaches, and soak in natural hot springs—all in the same trip. The food scene is world-class (especially the night markets), the public transportation is easy and efficient, and locals are famously friendly and welcoming.
The CULTURE OF TAIWAN
Taiwan’s culture is a really cool mix of old and new. Traditional beliefs, modern life, and different influences all blend together naturally, and you see that most clearly in the temples. They’re colorful, lively places where locals stop to pray, light incense, and take part in everyday rituals—not just tourist spots.
Many temples combine Buddhist, Taoist, and folk traditions all in one space, which makes them feel welcoming and down-to-earth. Along with Temples, Taiwan boasts some World class museums. Festivals and temple events are loud, fun, and full of energy, with lanterns, music, and parades. Overall, Taiwan feels warm, respectful, and vibrant—where ancient traditions fit easily into modern daily life.
THE FOOD IN TAIWAN
Taiwan’s night markets come alive after dark with glowing signs, sizzling grills, and irresistible aromas of soy sauce, garlic, and sugar. Crowded and energetic, they offer endless street food combined with World class restaurants at a very reasonable price. In Taiwan, eating is a true passion, and these markets reflect that love of food, turning every night into a vibrant ritual where flavor, culture, and community come together.

KEELUNG, TAIWAN
Justin’s hometown of Keelung will likely be the setting for a sunrise service overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Located in northeastern Taiwan, Keelung City is a historic and vibrant port city known for its dramatic coastline and deep maritime roots. It forms part of the greater Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area, alongside neighboring New Taipei City and Taipei, blending coastal beauty with urban energy.
